1968 – 1974 During the employment as journeyman, attendance at vocational school part time for two years followed by a year of full time attendance. Following attendance of Bayern-College Schweinfurt, graduation with university entrance.
1974 – 1976 Another year of employment as journeyman at the university print shop H. Stuertz AG in Wuerzburg, followed by study of Chemistry and Biology at the Universities of Darmstadt and Wuerzburg.
1976 – 1982 Study of Medicine at the University of Wuerzburg. Examination and registration as qualified physician by the Secretary of State of Bavaria.

1982 – 1983 Assistant Physician in the central Department for Radio Diagnostics in the clinic of the administrative district of Ludwigsburg.
1983 – 1989 Scientific and Medical Assistant in the Department of Dermatology and Out Patient’s Clinic at the University of Bonn. During the education in Dermatology Assistant Doctor on various wards, including a year of training in the Department of Allergology and Occupational Diseases.

17.10.1990 Appointment as University Lecturer and acquising of „venia legendi“ for the special field of dermatology at the Rheinische Friedrich - Wilhelms - University of Bonn. Subject: History, clinic, pathogenesis and therapy of alopecia areata. Appointment as Assistant Professor.
1989 – 1993 Assistant Medical Director of different wards dealing with Clinical Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery. Certificate for the special field of Radiation Protection on December 09, 1992.
24.06.1993 Appointment as Second Deputy of the head of the Department of Dermatology at the University of Bonn.
01.10.1993 Establishment of a practice for Dermatology in Wesseling. Since then further education and extra training in phlebology, natural healing and environmental medicine. Obtaining the certificate for laborartory diagnostics.

Establishment of HAIR & NAIL

In 1999 establishment of HAIR & NAIL, an institution that is concerned with clinical research, education and communication with regard to hair and nail diseases.

Scientific activity and teaching assignment

Since 1983 scientific research and publications to the aetiology, pathogenesis and therapy of alopecia areata. Setting up and heading a surgery for patient with hair diseases, especially with alopecia areata. Giving lectures in General Dermatology to students studying medicine and dentistry at the University of Bonn. Appointment as Examiner in Dermatology for  medical students and students of dentistry taking the state examination.

Since October 1993 also dealing with androgenetic alopecia and diffuse loss of hair and cunsulating, advising and caring for patients suffering from these diseases.  In the last years additional specialisation in the diagnosis and treatment of nail diseases. Further education of 9 assistant doctors in dermatology and allergology while settling down in own dermatological practice. Continuing lecturing of dermatology to students of dentistry at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University of Bonn. Further appointment as Examiner for Doctoral Dissertations and Examiner in Dermatology for students of dentistry taking the state examination.

Allocation of trichological dissertations and scientific overseeing of 7 doctoral candidates.


Publications and lectures

79 publications and overview articles, 18 book contributions, 68 printed lectures and presentations at scientific conferences and congresses,  124 unprinted lectures, 87 trichological seminar meetings at universities clinics and for established dermatologists.


Continuing Education Certification

Since 1994 authorized by the Chamber of Physicians of North Rhine Westphalia to provide Continuing Education and training for assistant doctors in Dermatology (30 month program) and Allergology (18 month program).
